Missed Information is the product of a thesis project wherein the goal is to develop a video game that educates its players on what fake news is, and teaches them the methods to identify articles on social media that are verifiably false. The game is a puzzle simulation where the player takes on the role of a fact-checker hired by a social media company. They will learn the methods for spotting fake news and the aspects of news articles that can be scrutinized to determine their validity. As the game goes on, they are introduced to more methods of spotting fake news. The aim is for the player to come out of the experience knowing what fake news is and how to identify them, and to be able to apply this knowledge to their everyday life.

  • Click the Run Game button and wait for the game to load.
  • Due to the nature of the game, it is best to play it on fullscreen.
    • To play on fullscreen, press the button with two arrows at the bottom right of the screen.

If you are unable to play the browser version due to long load times or other reasons, you may opt to download the build itself and play it directly from your computer. You may download the files by scrolling down past the Credits.

Just download and extract the .zip files and start the application.

  • If you're on Windows, the .exe file should be called Missed Information
  • If you're on macOS, the app file should be called mi-final-mac
